  • Earle McDaniel

    Earle McDaniel, DVM

    Dr. McDaniel opened the Animal Hospital of North Myrtle Beach in 1976 after graduating from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He built the current hospital and moved to its present location in 1984. Dr. McDaniel is a member of the Waccamaw Association of Veterinarians, the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. He has been honored by AAHA for his longtime hospital membership and for his adherence to its strict medical and ethical guidelines. The hospital has been awarded AAHA Accreditation with Honors. Dr. McDaniel served six years on the South Carolina Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners including two years as Chairman. He lives in Longs with his wife Karen and daughter Caroline, two alley cats (Elmo and Squeaky), a Brittany named Gus, a German Shepherd named Tango given to him by a local police officer, another German Shepherd named Hexe, a quarter horse/thoroughbred named Dody, a Tennessee Walking Horse named Sam, a quarter horse named Zippy, a Thoroughbred named Forest, a donkey named Walter, and the feline barn supervisor named Eloise.
  • Nicole Jones

    Nicole Jones, DVM

    Dr. Jones joined the Animal Hospital of North Myrtle Beach in 1995.  She is a graduate of the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine and, in addition to dogs and cats, enjoys caring for birds, reptiles and small mammals such as rabbits and hamsters.  Dr. Jones lives in Calabash with her husband Thomas and daughters Elana and Sarah.  Her family also includes two cats and some fish!
  • Stacy Doty

    Stacy Doty, DVM

    Dr. Doty earned her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and practiced for a year in Virginia before joining the Animal Hospital of North Myrtle Beach in 1996.  Dr. Doty had worked both as an animal health technician and as a registered nurse before attending veterinary college.  She lives in Cherry Grove with a beagle mix named Shiloh, a Chihuahua named Queenie, and a cat named Rocky.

    Karen McDaniel

    Karen began working part-time at the Animal Hospital while pursuing her biology degree at the University of Georgia.  Upon graduation, she returned full-time as a technician/receptionist/office manager.  Now married to Earle, she has a 21-year-old daughter, three dogs, three cats, four horses, and a donkey!
  • Phylis Hilling

    Phylis Hilling, RVT

    Phylis, our head veterinary technician, is from Greensboro, NC.  She received her Animal Science degree from Central Carolina Community College in 1990 and moved to North Myrtle Beach in 1996.  Phylis and her two daughters share their home with a kitty named Snugglepuss, a kitty named Little One, a kitty named Fireball, and seven guppies!

    Veterinary Assistant
    Angela is originally from Southern Pines, NC. She is earning her veterinary technician's degree with an online program sponsored by AAHA, the American Animal Hospital Association. She enjoys working at the Animal Hospital not only because she is gaining the experience needed for her degree, but because she gets to help animals when they are sick or injured. Angela has three children and keeps a menagerie of rescued pets at her home in Little River:  a boxer, a Labrador, a pit bull, and a flame-point Siamese cat.

    Veterinary Assistant
    Jessica is a native of Little River and graduated from North Myrtle Beach High School in 2002.  She worked part-time while in school and is gaining experience full-time with us now as she considers pursuing a degree in veterinary technology.  Jessica loves her cat Lumberjack and her Labrador mix Mason. She loves her job because she "gets to work with animals and learn something new every day".  She is married and lives in Little River with her husband and three children.

    Linda (shown here with Adam Robbins) has been working at the Animal Hospital of North Myrtle Beach for over 15 years. As a special member of our team, she enjoys taking care of our staff's children during the work day. Linda resides in North Myrtle Beach with her husband Jack, her son Jonathon, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bunny, and fish.

    Andrea Powalie

    Veterinary Student
    Andrea was born and raised in North Myrtle Beach.  Working with animals has always been a passion for her.  She began by volunteering at the Humane Society, and has been working at the Animal Hospital for over 5 years.  Andrea earned her biology degree from Coastal Carolina University and is currently attending the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.  We always look forward to her coming in to help us out when she is on a break from classes.
  • Jeannie Hansen

    Jeannie Hansen

    Jeannie is originally from Conway. She and her husband Drew, also from Conway, moved to Little River in 2008. They have a beautiful 4-year-old yellow Lab named Bailey and a darling 3-year-old cat named Sparkles. Jeannie loves traveling, going to the beach, exercising, and spoiling her pets. She has been on the team at the Animal Hospital since September, 2010.

    Nancy Queen

    Nancy, originally from Charlotte, NC, moved to North Myrtle Beach in 2010. She has been married for 3 years and loves hanging out at the beach and playing with her Maltese, Max.
  • Diane Tutone

    Diane Tutone, LVT

    Diane and her husband, Ron, moved to Little River in 2013. She was originally from western New York and was employed at the State Street Animal Hospital for 19 years. She is looking forward to many sunny days, walks on the beach, and a LOT less snow in the winter! Diane has two daughters ( Eva-NC and Amanda-CO ), two grand puppies and one grand kitty. She and her horse, SheZa, enjoy trail riding, meeting new friends, and starting a new adventure.
  • Karen Pere


    Karen, a native of New Jersey, has been in the Carolinas for 11 years.  Originally hired as a kennel attendant in 2014, she is now learning other facets of the hospital as well.  Karen has loved animals as far back as she can remember and looks forward to coming to work every day.  Outside of work, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her rescue kitty Oliver.

    Raan is a Tuskegee, Alabama native and has been working with animals for over 15 years.  Both her grandfathers were veterinary professors at Tuskegee Institute.  She was employed at Paws Inn 10 years ago and found her way back to us in 2015.  Raan lives in Myrtle Beach with her fiance'  Zachary, her hound dog named Porter, and two lovely black and white kitties named Bushcat and Jeebus.

    Lisa is originally from Pennsylvania and moved to Myrtle Beach in 2015.  She has a bachelor's degree in animal science and is a certified veterinary technician.  Lisa recently adopted a Siberian husky puppy, Zelda, who is occupying most of her free time :-)

    Update:  My mom died on January 11, 2014, but I'd like to leave her picture and bio on this page because she so loved her job and her family at Paws Inn.  Mom enjoyed befriending the animals and their people as they crossed the Paws Inn threshold.  She considered her last months at work as a kind of "therapy" while she bravely underwent chemo.  We have received many kind cards and letters from her Paws Inn friends--thank you for remembering her.  -KM

    Jean is originally from Rockland, MA but spent over 20 years as an Air Force wife.  She moved to Calabash following her husband's retirement in 1978 and has worked at the Animal Hospital since 1983.  She became the manager at Paws Inn upon its opening in 1985.  Jean has always loved all sorts of animals and shares her home with three beagles named Snoopy, Belle, and PJ. Jean has three children and three grandchildren who know her as "Grammy".

    Karen Lowrance is originally from Jackson, TN.  She has been working at Paws Inn since 1998 and has a special way with animals.  She has experience handling practically every breed of dog.  Karen lives in North Myrtle Beach and has three daughters.

    Judy is originally from Winston-Salem, NC and has lived in North Myrtle Beach for the past 4 years. She has 30 years grooming experience, making her an asset to our Paws Inn team. Judy shares her home with an African Grey bird, a standard poodle named Frasier (pictured here), and 1 fish. Judy also has three grown children.

    Candace, Judy's daughter, is also from Winston-Salem, NC and has been a North Myrtle Beach resident for the past 4 years. She has enjoyed working with animals for over 10 years and also has experience in grooming. Candace has 2 Shih tzus, Liam and Coco Chanel. She is a North Myrtle Beach High School graduate and does a great job bathing Paws Inn's furry friends!
